Morgan

Ok, my parents live on the south side of town, near Lackland.  At any given time of the day, you can count on seeing lots of stray dogs and cats.  Well, yesterda, as I pulled up to my parents house to pick up my daughter, a cute little thing came running up to me.  I immediately bent down to pet her.  She was scruffy and had stickers from grass all over her and she needed to be bathed.

I asked my mom who's dog she was and she did not know.  She had actually thought the dog had been picked up by the pound as she had seen her previously running the streets.

When I was leaving the little dog was not there.  She was at another house visiting with some people as they were sitting outside.  My mom asked them who the dog belongs to and they did not know.  They said they feed her from time to time.  My mom told them that I wanted to take the dog and they said to take her.

So, we picked her up and took her home......like I dont' have enough responsibility at home.....what am I thinking?

We took her to Petsmart to get her a flea collar and a harness and leash.

I gave her a well needed bath too.

She slept with Allyn all night in her bed......so sweet.

weekend

he weekend started Friday night at the Jazz Fest.  I took my baby girl.  The weather was so perfect too.  There were tons of grey clouds blocking the super hot sun and there was actually a cool breeze.  We, at one point, actually felt a bit cold.

We were both really jazzed, get it...jazzed...and we were at the jazz fest...about getting our fried pickles.  We love these!  Neither one of us could finish our baskets for some reason.  They tasted so good but the grease was just not sitting well.

fried pickles!
We went into the mall and bought smoothies and these hit the spots.  Allyn got strawberry and I opted for pineapple.  Pretty good for a mall smoothie.  I watched them make them too, just fruit, ice, water and honey.

Here are some random pics.  The band playing was called Fingerprints.

Sunday, my bestie had some tickets to Rhianna.  Kesha ( sorry, I'm not a fan of hers ) opened up the show and thank goodness did not do a lot of songs.  Rhianna was fantastic.  This girl is in shape too.  She moved fluidly on stage and did not miss a beat.  Loved her!

track

Yesterday evening I had a track workout.  My running group along with other running groups train together either on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.  The really super good runners are out there on Tuesday, so I'm out there on Wednesday.

My bestie, Linda and our friend Kami were out there too.  Linda is a fantastic runner and leaves us in the dust.  Kami, on the other hand, has a little bit of a faster pace than me and I love, love, love running with her.  She doesn't let me give up.

Kami, Linda and Me

We ran 1 mile ( 4 laps ) as a warm up at LR pace.

Then we did some warm up exercises to get stretched and our hearts going.

Then we did 6x200, rest 6x200 at an average of .56 seconds for each speed run.  My target 200 was supposed to be at a pace of 1.10 but Kami kept me going...fast.  I love this girl!!!

The last mile was run inside the track barefoot in the grass.....my favorite.  Allyn actually ran this with me.

Well, today....my calves are a bit sore.   I wanted to share my recovery secret when my calves act up.

Zensah to the rescue!
I wish they had this for my butt because it hurts too.....oh well. :)

Devin

Well, in my previous post, I mentioned that I needed to treat my lawn for fleas and other pests.....well, Devin is the main reason why.  A friend of mine, Kami, who's dad is a vet, discussed my dog's scratching issues while on our six mile run together Saturday morning.  She suggested I treat my lawn and she even had wonderful advice on how to do it.  She also gave me more advice on what could be wrong and that I needed to get Devin to the vet to get her treated.  This was awesome because I had already made Dev and appointment for Monday after work.

Here's a pic of my baby Devin.  She's 10 years old and is a wonderful friend.

Devin is now on 3 oral meds and ear drops for the next three weeks.  I also have to bathe her with a prescription shampoo once a week for the next three to four weeks.  This will be a task....she hates and I mean hates getting into the tub for bath time.  I have to sneak over to her and just pick her up.  My big lab. Lexy, (115lbs) loves baths and gets right in the tub for me....  Also bought some Comfortis for both dogs.  This seems to be the best defense against fleas right now.

I am so excited to get Devin well again and I'm pretty sure she's sick of constantly scratching and biting.

weekend

Sunday, we stayed home.  I mowed the back lawn so I could treat the lawn for fleas and other pests.  I also wound up cleaning out my little garden that still needs much more love and attention.  I have let this get really ugly and grass and debris were all over the place in this little area.  I would still like to make it colorful with some pretty flowers.  The bird bath is once again usable and the birds have already flocked over.  This makes my cat happy too....she loves her some bird watching.

As you can see, kinda anxious today here at work.  Ready to start the weekend.  Looking forward to running 6 miles, spending time with my dearest loved ones and working out in the yard.

So Sweet the Hour

So Sweet the Hour is my friend Julie's son's band.  Her son is second from the left in this picture posted.

Felt compelled to post because these kids have worked so dang hard at their craft.  Mind you, Julie's son is only 15 years old.  They write their own music, lyrics and all.  I hope the best for them and their dreams come true.  And, by chance if they do make it big, I've informed my friend that she will need a nanny for her almost 1 year old daughter..... I'm just sayin'.

Have a great weekend!

Jazz Fest

Each summer, Linda and I love going to the Jazz Fest at Wonderland Mall http://http//www.reachfortheheights.org/pages/jazz_fest.php. It's each Friday for five weeks. We try to make them all. It's very relaxing, especially once the sun goes down.

Before I go to work, I stop by the mall and set out our chairs to reserve our spot on the lawn. Thus far, they have not been stolen or tampered with....lucky.

There are lots of food booths as well as beer, wine, frozen drinks, sodas and water.

I apolgize for the clarity of the following pictures, you see, my battery in my digital camera died and I cannot find the charger. I had to order a new one and it hasn't, as you can see, come in yet. All pics were taken with my phone's camera.

This year the fest began with a group called, Groove Therapy. They are Army servicemen who played fantastically.

Kathie, Linda, Me

My friend, Kathie's ( I have known since 5th grade ) father just recently passed. I got ahold of her to give her my condolences and also invited her out if she was up to it. She came out and it was so good seeing her.

Here is Allyn and Linda's daughter, Gabrielle, playing in the fountain water. They got small jars of bubbles at one of the booths and had a great time here.

After I took the girls pictures, I attempted to take one of me and my bestie. I had the viewer still zoomed and here's what we got. Had to post becuase we thought is was hilarious.

this weekend

Looks like I will have a busy but great weekend.

Saturday have plans to do a super workout class with my bestie, Linda. She goes to a Krav Maga http://krav-maga-san-antonio.com/ workout gym. The owner, Pete, has a class called "All In All Out" It's 90 minutes of intense workouts.

Sunday, my beautiful hairdresser/friend is getting married!!! I am so excited for her. I used to pray every night that she would meet someone and fall in love and get married. I will get some pictures too!! I stole this picture from her facebook page......hope she doesn't mind :)

Monday....the dreaded Monday....yes, off from work but will not be able to eat any solid food.......blah blah.... this is because Tuesday morning I have to have a colonoscopy. Not so fun.

Have a great weekend everyone!
