1st Haircut

Look who got her first hair cut!  According to the beautician, she was not too fond of the loud noises nor the clipping of her hair.  Well, Miss Morgan better get used to it because she looks so darn cute.  Plus, the shedding is so much less without the messy hair.  Oh, and when I brought her home, she did the funniest thing, she went to my bedroom and sat right in front of my bedroom window knowing a photo shoot would happen immediately there after.  :)

I also need to post this past weekends pics!  Allyn had her recital, I had my Christmas party and the kids got to see all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood!  Here is a picture I happen to have handy:

Fun Times

This weekend I went over to my friend's, Andrea and Tammy's, to hang out.  We had plenty of snacks and drinkies.  Oh, and Tammy made the best soup ever by the way.  We played the game Outburst and good times were had by all.
I love the fact they also live within walking distance from my house...

Rock & Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon

Well, I ran again this past November 14th in the Rock and Roll Half Marathon.  The last one I did was in March and ran a 2:35.  This time, my mind set was so much different.  I wanted to run hard and finish with a better time.  Conditions for the race were almost perfect.  The weather was chilly with no rain (though the weatherman kept forcasting morning rain ).  The planners changed the route of the run and it was so much better with more room to run.

I started out at what I thought was going to be too fast and that I would tire out at any given minute.  For some reason my body would not allow me to stop.  I ran all the way through the entire race which is an actual 13.11 miles.  I will admit, I am super jazzed with my time of 2:11.07.

This is some of the team "Determination" that I am proud to be a part of.  I am in the middle!!

Solemn

There are times in my life when I feel just like this picture.

Lost in thought constantly wondering what life will bring. I question what God has planned for me. I find myself in deep thought just staring at nothing. I get side tracked and feel completely disoriented.

Life is full of so many ups and downs and wins and losses. I know we need to feel empty and sad in order to feel full and happy.

I really hope I am doing walking the right path, the path God has chosen for me.

Philippians 2:3

Philippians 2:3    New International Version

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."

To translate - Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than yourself.

This is on my my mind today.  Though I am not perfect, I do try and live by the old guideline of do unto others.  I do analize my own behaviors when looking back at myself in the mirror.  It would be so nice if so many other's did this.

Weekend

The weekend began with a race for me Friday night.   Our zoo puts on an 8 mile relay annually and this my first year of competing in it.  My bestie has done this previously, so she set my expectations.  I ran the second leg of the race.  The course was fantastically flat but the humidity was obnoxious.  Looking forward to next years because it was so much fun especially hanging out afterward with runners/friends.

Me, Kira, Linda, Kami

Saturday, was supposed to run 8 miles but my body ditched me and I only completed 6 and it was a difficult task just doing 6.  Not sure what the reasoning is, but I think the humidity here is just so darn high.

Then, Allyn's slumber party for her 9th birthday!!!  She had her friends over and they had such a great time hanging out.

even little Morgan got in on the celebration!

I turned up the music and the living room became the dance floor.

Sunday, I made pancakes for the ladies and off to their respective homes they went.

Off to get our church on.  Here are some pics of one of our worship leaders rocking the crowd.  He performed a song from Muse.

Monday, Allyn's actual birthday.  She looked so pretty on her way to school, I had to get a picture.

Labor Day Whine Run 5 miler

I did the Whine Run again this year out in Dry Comal Creek Vineyards out in New Braunfels, Texas.
I shaved 7 minutes from my time from last year and in running, this is A LOT of time.  I ran in 52.54 minutes.  This is a really tough course for me.  The very first mile is straight up hill and then there's a hill at ever mile there after.  The course finally plateus at the last .5 miles.

Weekend

Saturday started off with a six mile run with the running group.  I had forgotten charge my Garmin and my Ipod the night before.  I ran for the first time untimed and without music.  It felt really good I must say.

I then took Allyn to a San Antonio staple, Chris Madrid's.  They have the absolute best burgers around.  They are extremely greasy and oh so good.  We ordered the cheese burger ( just one ) and split it.  It was plenty of burger for the both of us.....and the fries too.

Sunday, we took our little Morgan to Hardberger Park.  It's a newer park that actually has a devoted area for dogs.  They have a pen for small and large dogs where they can  go unleashed.  This was my first experience at this type of park.  I wish I could have taken my other two dogs but in this heat, my Lab would have definitely overheated ( she's ten years old and like 115lbs. )  So, I left my ten year old's at home.  Once the weather cools, I need to figure out a way to take all three....it will be a task just getting the Lab in the SUV as she has bad hips.....:(

Morgan

Ok, my parents live on the south side of town, near Lackland.  At any given time of the day, you can count on seeing lots of stray dogs and cats.  Well, yesterda, as I pulled up to my parents house to pick up my daughter, a cute little thing came running up to me.  I immediately bent down to pet her.  She was scruffy and had stickers from grass all over her and she needed to be bathed.

I asked my mom who's dog she was and she did not know.  She had actually thought the dog had been picked up by the pound as she had seen her previously running the streets.

When I was leaving the little dog was not there.  She was at another house visiting with some people as they were sitting outside.  My mom asked them who the dog belongs to and they did not know.  They said they feed her from time to time.  My mom told them that I wanted to take the dog and they said to take her.

So, we picked her up and took her home......like I dont' have enough responsibility at home.....what am I thinking?

on the ride home

We took her to Petsmart to get her a flea collar and a harness and leash.

I gave her a well needed bath too.

She slept with Allyn all night in her bed......so sweet.
