Oyster Bake

I finally made it back to the Oyster Bake celebration. I am almost embarrassed that I haven't been since 1989....a long time ago. My bestie and her husband work a beer booth every year on Friday night ( the Oyster Bake is from Friday to Saturday ). Her husband graduated from St. Mary's and is in with sponsoring the booth. Needless to say, we had a blast! We had the last shift so we got to walk around and see all the booths. The rain came down pretty hard on us once, but fortunately, we were under a the wine tasting pavilion at the time. The grounds were MUDDY and this is why we wore our water boots. They were a hit too. There were quite a few ladies sporting the boots as well.

Our shift began and so did the headliner band, Lover Boy! It seemed like we knew all the words to the song and sang and danced the whole time we were working. Even a cop jokingly came over and said we were having too much fun (sober mind you).

Austin Capitol 10k 04/11/10

I signed up for another race in Austin. It brought in over twenty thousand runners, most not timed and a third timed.

I stayed with my cousin Adam, his wife Tina and their daughter Maya out in Buda, Texas. They live right on the outskirts of south Austin, so super convenient to stay with them. Had such a great time with them too!

When I got there, Adam was doing some yard work. I had to snap some pics of him on his riding mower.

Later on, we went out in the front and hung out with his neighbors and their kids. One of his neighbor's has this go-cart. Adam doesn't really fit... but oh well. I hope you can read his shirt, it says "smart." hhmm

We requested the presence of Sara, Adam's sister and my cousin as well. I was delighted she stopped by because I haven't seen her in quite some time.

Here are some pictures of Adam and his daughter, Maya. She put him in time out because he wasn't' listening. I couldn't agree more with her. This just seems to be his disposition :)

And finally, here are some pics of my run. It, at first, rained or should I say, drizzled really hard on us while we were waiting to take off. The roads were wet which meant they were super slick as well. By mile .3, yes, not even a mile in, I think everyone was already drenched in sweat because it was so humid out. The course had some challenging inclines and just as challenging declines. Had the roads not been wet, one of the declines was super steep and could have catapulted every runner.

This race was 6.25 miles, hence 10k. I finished in 1:06:51. I was shooting for 60 minutes but this thing tired me out. I felt pretty good after I read the average time was 1:07 ( in which I did a little better than ).
